Pinguicula Pilosa, is a fascinating Mexican butterwort species native to Tamaulipas, Mexico, first discovered by Alfred Lau in the early 1980s and formally described in 2004. Its species name comes from the Latin pilus (“hair”), referring to one of its most unusual traits, its softly hairy flowers. This compact carnivorous plant forms a neat rosette of sticky leaves designed to trap tiny insects, while producing delicate pale purple to white blooms covered in fine fuzz, giving the flowers an almost velvety appearance. Rare and distinctive, Pinguicula Pilosa is especially treasured by collectors for its uniquely textured flowers.
