A Smaller Pacific Poncho
The Pacific Poncho (Middy) takes the weather protection of our full-size Pacific and scales it for smaller adults and children up to 165cm tall. Made from 8oz waxed canvas, it gives you proper rain coverage without the full body liner, keeping the weight down for warmer, wetter climates. At 70cm long and 100cm wide, it provides generous coverage while packing down to around 25cm x 12cm when the weather clears.
Built for Smaller Frames
A good poncho needs to cover you without swallowing you. The Middy is proportioned for smaller wearers, with three side snaps on each side to close the body and form simple sleeves when extra protection is needed. The adjustable Storm Hood can be cinched to suit the wearer, while the rear storm flap helps move more water away from the shoulders. At 1kg, it is substantial enough for proper weather while remaining practical to carry.
One-Piece Waxed Canvas
The main body is shaped from one continuous piece of 8oz waxed canvas using our own folding system. That removes seams from the shoulder and body area while creating a double layer over the shoulders for added rain and abrasion protection. The hood sits over the main body rather than relying on a shoulder seam, with an AquaGuard® front zip, brass snap buttons mounted through leather washers, and a breathable cotton and linen hood lining.
Made to Stay Useful
Waxed canvas is made to wear in, pick up marks and be maintained rather than thrown away. When the finish eventually needs attention, it can be re-waxed to restore its water repellency. The brass snaps will develop their own patina, while the rear hood adjustment system is deliberately exposed so it remains easier to access and repair. Even the hood can be rolled away with its built-in tidy tab, which doubles with the rear hanging loop when the poncho needs to dry out.
Ready for Real Rain
The Middy is for the smaller adventurer who still needs proper weather gear. Throw it over what you are wearing, adjust the hood, snap the sides and get on with it. Available in Desert, Jungle and Black, it is built for wet tracks, sudden downpours and the sort of weather that rarely waits until you are somewhere convenient.
