ISHKAR and Skateistan have joined forces to create a limited capsule collection of handmade Afghan rugs — where age-old craft meets contemporary design, and artistry becomes a vehicle for impact.

30% of proceeds from the collection will be donated to Skateistan, helping provide safe spaces, skateboarding programs and education for children in at-risk communities.

The Omid flatweave tapestry, meaning hope, features bold shapes in earthy tones, reminiscent of Afghanistan's mountainous landscape and contemporary skate ramps alike. Also available as an area rug.

Spun from raw Ghazni wool, this tapestry has been finely handwoven by master weavers in the city of Mazar-e Sharif in Afghanistan. Each one comes with a fabric tube casing sewn along the top to facilitate hanging onto a rod, which you can mount onto two brackets secured to the wall.
