It’s a basketball tradition like no other in Lawrence. The standards at the University of Kansas are impossibly high. There are legends spanning the decades, impossible names like Wilt Chamberlain, hardwood icons who’ve become part of the Jayhawks’ lore.

And then there’s “The Truth.”

Paul Pierce. Number 34 in your program. The kid from Inglewood High School in Los Angeles, who came to KU in 1995 as one of the sought after recruits of his day. It was in Kansas that the world began to see. It was the heart. The determination. The hunger. An attitude that proclaimed that golden era of college basketball as his own. Deadly from the mid-range. Unparalleled in-game IQ. Athleticism that wouldn’t stop.
