Glass Railing Square Surface Mount Post • Inline Design

The Stainless Steel Glass Railing Square Surface Mount Post with Square Glass Clamps is part of Inline Design’s Chicago Square Style Glass Railing System. This version is designed for clean clamp-mounted glass railing installations where top rail mounting hardware is not required.

Built from a 1.57" x 1.57" / 40 x 40 mm square stainless steel profile with a 12 gauge / 0.102" / 2.6 mm wall thickness, this post is a heavy-duty option for modern glass railing systems that need strong post construction, clean square lines, and square glass clamps.

Use it for balconies, decks, porches, patios, stairs, landings, terraces, indoor railings, outdoor railings, wet or dry locations, residential projects, and commercial projects when installed according to local code, approved mounting conditions, glass requirements, and project-specific engineering.

Glass panels are purchased separately. This post system is designed for use with compatible tempered or laminated glass panels. Verify glass thickness, panel height, panel width, local code requirements, and project-specific engineering before ordering glass.

Important Installation Notes

Glass panels are not included.
Base anchors are not included. Due to the variety of floor surfaces, customers must supply the connecting hardware for the base, including screws, bolts, anchor bolts, or other project-specific fasteners. For substrate-specific fastener guidance and recommended approaches, see Anchoring Options for Railing Posts.
Anchor selection must be based on the mounting surface, including concrete, steel, wood framing, blocking, or other approved structural substrates.
Stair posts and other custom posts require an additional fee to account for custom post fabrication and CAD drawings specific to the customer field measurements when necessary.
Custom fabrication requires a minimum of 1–2 weeks for production.
Handrail, top rail, guardrail height, glass type, post spacing, anchoring, and other structural requirements must be verified against local code and project-specific engineering.
For coastal or high-corrosion environments, stainless steel must be cleaned and maintained regularly.

Optional Safety Pins and Glass Notches for Surface-Mounted Posts

For surface-mounted glass railing posts, safety pins and glass notches are optional.

If safety pins are selected, matching glass notches are required for the pins to engage. Inline Design recommends two notches at the bottom of each panel, positioned for the two lower safety pins.

The downloadable drawing applies to 3/8-inch, 1/2-inch, and 9/16-inch glass. Provide it to the glass fabricator before the panel is ordered or cut.
