📏 How to Measure Your Thread Size (No Vehicle Manual Needed)
Use this simple method to confirm your shifter thread — works on any car regardless of make or model:
-
Remove your existing shift knob by twisting it counter-clockwise until it comes off (some knobs have a set screw — loosen it first with a hex key).
-
Measure the outer diameter of the threaded shifter shaft using digital calipers or a thread gauge. Round to the nearest mm — this gives you the "M" value (e.g. 10mm = M10).
-
Measure the thread pitch by counting the number of thread crests over a 10mm length, then divide 10 by that count. For example, 8 crests over 10mm = 1.25mm pitch. Alternatively, use a thread pitch gauge tool for accuracy.
-
Match your result to the thread sizes listed above and select accordingly at checkout.
-
Unsure? Take your car to a local hardware or auto parts store — most can measure it for free in under two minutes.
💡 Pro tip: A thread pitch gauge (available at most hardware stores for under $15) makes this completely foolproof.
🔧 Installation Guide
-
Park your vehicle on a flat surface, engage the handbrake, and turn off the engine.
-
Remove your existing shift knob by rotating counter-clockwise. If it has a locking collar or set screw, release that first.
-
Thread your adapter onto the RYUUKEN!! knob (adapter is pre-included). Hand-tighten until snug.
-
Thread the knob assembly onto your shifter shaft clockwise. Do not use excessive force — firm hand-tight is sufficient for most vehicles.
-
Align the knob to your preferred orientation (e.g. dragon facing the driver). Some adapters allow locking at a set position — refer to your adapter's collar/set-screw if included.
-
Test gear engagement by moving through all gears before driving. Confirm the knob is secure and does not wobble.
⚠️ Important: Do not over-tighten. 304 stainless steel threads are strong, but cross-threading can damage your shifter shaft. If resistance is felt before full engagement, stop and re-align.

⚠️ Before You Buy — Confirm Your Fit
We want you to love this knob from the moment you install it. To avoid returns:
- ✅ Measure your shifter thread diameter and pitch using the guide above before ordering.
- ✅ Select the matching thread adapter size at checkout.
- ✅ If in doubt, consult your vehicle's workshop manual or visit a local auto parts store for a free thread check.
- ❌ Do not rely solely on make/model compatibility lists — thread sizes can vary between trim levels and production years of the same model.
