Wall Mounted Bedside Reading Light

This is a small spot head on a bendable gooseneck arm, fixed to a round wall plate. The arm holds any shape you bend it into, so you can drop the head onto a page and leave it there. The beam is narrow. It lights a book without lighting the whole room or the person beside you. There is a switch on the backplate itself, so you do not need a separate one on the wall. It comes in black or white.

Black gooseneck reading light above a bedside table and open book

A bedside lamp takes up the whole nightstand and lights the entire room. This does neither. It fixes to the wall, so the table stays clear for a glass and a phone. The head throws a tight beam rather than a glow, so one person can read while the other sleeps. The gooseneck holds whatever shape you bend it into.

Reading Without Waking the Room

The head is a small spot rather than an open bulb.

That gives a defined circle of light instead of a general glow.

Aimed at a page, almost nothing spills sideways.

The person next to you sees the book lit and not much else.

A normal bedside lamp lights the ceiling, the wall and both pillows.

Bend the arm so the head sits just above and behind your shoulder.

That puts the light on the page and keeps it out of your eyes.

The switch is on the backplate, within reach when you are lying down.

Mount it about 24 to 30 in above the mattress.

It is a task light and nothing else, so keep a second source in the room.

A ceiling light or a floor lamp covers the general lighting.

This one covers the page.

What the Gooseneck Gives You

The arm bends by hand and stays where you put it.

There are no joints to loosen and no knobs to tighten.

You can curve it forward over a book or fold it flat to the wall.

Folded back it takes up very little space beside the bed.

Over a desk it reaches out to light a keyboard or a notebook.

The head itself turns, so you can twist the beam without moving the arm.

Bend it slowly. A sharp crease is harder to undo than a gentle curve.

It holds the same position indefinitely once set.

The head is small, so the beam is tight even at full reach.

That is what stops it lighting the ceiling on the way past.

Twist the head rather than the arm for small corrections.

Black or White and Where It Fits

The black version holds its outline against a pale wall.

It reads as a deliberate fitting rather than something apologetic.

The white version disappears into plaster and panelling.

Choose white if you want the bed to be the thing you notice.

Both have the same round backplate and the same spot head.

A pair either side of a bed is the obvious layout.

One beside a reading chair also works, with the arm reaching over.

At 1.1 lb it is light, so plasterboard anchors are enough.

The supplier lists the power source as a rechargeable battery and also gives 90 to 260V.

Those two cannot both be true, so no power source is claimed on this page.

Confirm with the supplier before you plan a wall point for it.
