The kick-start bottle is an empty high-grade plastic bottle that can be used to help boost the hot composting bacteria’s rate of heat generation within the HOTBIN. The bottle is most effective when the bin’s internal temperature is less than 59°F so when starting the HOTBIN for the first time or having returned from holiday and the internal temperature has dropped. If the HOTBIN’s internal temperature is above 59°F, you should raise the temperature by the types, quantities, and frequency of waste being added rather than using the kick-start bottle. For instructions please refer to the directions on the bottle's side. DO NOT use bottles other than the one provided by HOTBIN as this could cause injury when handling the bottle with boiling water use extreme care and cover your hands.
