How to take care of the cap if peeling (Optional and at customers risk): Depending on the damage done, if low amount of peeling, try a primer or a clearcoat over the cap, this will keep the cap sealed and stop any further damage. (This information is care advice, not a solid guide but a suggestion, so please do this at your own risk.)
An MTB topcap, also called a stem cap or headset cap, sits at the top of your mountain bike’s fork steerer tube. On a threadless headset, the cap and its centre bolt are used to set the headset bearing preload during adjustment, helping remove unwanted play while allowing the steering to turn freely.
It’s also one of the details you see every time you look down at your bike.
A HEXCAPS topcap replaces your plain stock cap with a design that suits your setup. Match your bike’s colours, choose a graphic you love or add an engraved detail to your cockpit.
