This is the washable main air filter for the indoor unit. It captures dust and lint before they reach the coil and fan, and is cleaned and reinstalled rather than thrown away.

Find your model number on the indoor unit's nameplate, typically on the right-hand side of the unit or on the bottom edge facing the floor.
Care & Replacement
Clean every two weeks. Vacuum the filter, or wash it in warm water with a mild detergent, then let it air-dry completely before reinstalling. Do not run the indoor unit without its filter installed. Washable filters are not lifetime filters: replace every 1 to 3 years based on wear. We recommend replacing it annually for best performance, and sooner if it is torn, warped or will not come clean.
