Overview

Earl's Wood Hardener is a pre-mixed, ready-to-use rotten wood repairer that penetrates soft, rotted wood fibres and restores them to near their original strength. Instead of digging out and replacing rotten timber, you saturate the affected area with Wood Hardener, let it cure solid, then fill and paint. It suits both interior and exterior jobs and is available in 250ml and 1 Litre.

Key Features

  • Penetrates soft, rotted wood fibres and restores them to near original strength, so damaged timber can be repaired rather than replaced.
  • Pre-mixed and ready to apply straight from the tub. Just shake before use.
  • Water-based and non-toxic once cured, making it safe to use around the home and on playground equipment.
  • No waste and no Volatile Organic Compounds.
  • Long shelf life of over two years.
  • Suits interior and exterior timber repairs.
  • 100% Australian made and owned.

Perfect For

  • Fences, fence palings, weatherboards and decorative beams.
  • Decking, posts and outdoor tables and chairs.
  • Window sills and sashes, door frames and panelling.
  • Playground equipment and general furniture repairs.

Why Choose This Product?

Rotten timber usually means cutting out and replacing the damaged section, which costs time and money. Earl's Wood Hardener lets you restore the wood in place instead, soaking into the soft fibres and hardening them back up so the piece can be filled, sanded and painted like new.

Care, Use or Compatibility Notes

Make sure the area to be treated is dry and free of dirt, dust or grease, and remove any loose paint, varnish or flaky wood first. Shake before use, then generously apply by pouring, spraying, brushing or sponging, repeatedly saturating the rotted fibres for the deepest possible penetration. Let it cure until solid and no longer tacky to the touch. Very soft wood may need more than one treatment. For deeper rot, drilling small holes around 75mm either side of the affected area and injecting Wood Hardener into them helps penetration. Once cured, the area can be filled with a product such as Earl's Powder Putty, MulTfill or MulTflex and then painted. Earl's Wood Hardener is a non-structural wood hardener, so always check the product label for full directions and safety information before use.
