Java Moss is a must-have for freshwater shrimp aquariums. Its dense growth provides tons of surface area for shrimp to graze, gives baby shrimp places to hide, and helps create a more natural aquarium environment. It's also a great plant for many other freshwater aquarium inhabitants.
You will receive one portion of Java Moss, usually around the size of a golf ball. Portion size may vary.
When we're asked what we consider essential for a successful shrimp tank, we usually come back to three things: leaf matter, Java Moss, and a piece of driftwood. Of those three, Java Moss is one of our favorites.
One of its biggest benefits is the additional surface area it provides. Biofilm and microorganisms can grow throughout the moss, creating natural grazing areas for shrimp and especially shrimplets. Its dense growth also gives young shrimp plenty of places to hide and explore.
On top of all those benefits, Java Moss is extremely easy to keep and propagate. It may grow slowly at first, but once established, it's a hardy plant that's a great option even if you don't have much experience with live aquarium plants.
All plants may contain snails or snail eggs. We keep them in all of our tanks for the benefits they provide.
