The Gripzilla Tornado is a full-steel grip and forearm trainer with two ball joints and friction resistance you can adjust. You twist, wring and rotate the two handles in any direction, and the resistance stays the same through the whole movement. Because of that, one tool loads the forearm flexors and extensors at the same time, across all 20 forearm muscles. Spring grippers, wrist rollers and rubber twist bars each train only part of that range.

Key facts

  • What it trains: grip strength, wrist strength, rotational (twisting) strength and forearm endurance. It loads all 20 forearm muscles, and the finger exercises also work the small muscles of the hand.
  • How resistance works: friction inside two spherical joints. There are no springs, weights or gravity involved, so it works in every direction (vertical, horizontal, rotational) and you can't use momentum to cheat a rep.
  • Resistance range: adjustable from near zero, where the handles spin under three fingertips, up to locked tight enough that a full fist can't turn them. Each side adjusts separately.
  • Exercises: 18 taught exercises and more than 100 combinations. A first session takes about 5 minutes.
  • Construction: full steel. Steel connecting sleeve, steel ball joints with rubber-coated inner rings, knurled steel handles, steel locking nuts and fixators.
  • Weight: about 3.8 lb (full-steel version). It fits in a gym bag or on a desk.
  • Design: a US-patented Gripzilla design.

What's in the box

  • 1 Gripzilla Tornado with 2 friction pads installed
  • 4 replacement friction pads
  • Lubricant for the friction surfaces
  • Hard carry case

Replacement friction pads (Friction Pads 3.0) are sold separately.

Who it's for

  • Lifters and athletes whose grip gives out before the target muscle on deadlifts, rows, pull-ups and carries.
  • Arm wrestlers, climbers, combat athletes and racquet, bat and club players who need rotational wrist and forearm strength.
  • People with elbow or wrist pain who want a tool that starts at a very low load and progresses gradually. Speak with your physician or physical therapist about any condition.
  • Desk workers and older adults who want to keep their hands and forearms strong in short daily sessions.

How to set the resistance

  1. Loosen the locking nut away from the retaining ring.
  2. Turn the ring toward + for more resistance or toward - for less.
  3. Lock the nut, seat the fixator in the sleeve groove, and repeat on the other side.
  4. Match both sides by feel: Low spins under a three-finger pen grip, Medium needs a full fist, and High won't turn even with a full fist.

After each session, loosen both joints to minimum so the friction pads last longer.

What customers say

  • "It's not a gimmick. It's way better than the old version of forearm builders I was using." (Matthew, verified buyer)
  • "Got mine for Christmas, and in one month, I added an inch to my forearm size!" (Ben R., verified buyer)
  • "It now fully made of steel , handles too , not aluminum like previously." (Ben R., verified buyer)
  • "Ive had bad tennis elbow and got the tornado to help heal and strengthen my forearms... im taking it easy at the lowest setting for 30-40sec." (JcT, verified buyer)

Individual experiences vary.

FAQ

How is the Tornado different from a wrist roller or a spring gripper?
A spring gripper trains the closing (crushing) grip. A wrist roller relies on gravity, so it works in one direction. The Tornado's friction resistance works in every direction, and it loads the muscles that open the hand and extend the wrist as well as the ones that close and flex it.

How is it different from the Gripzilla Dynamo?
The Dynamo rotates on one axis, using a wringing motion. The Tornado's two ball joints also let the wrist rotate, tilt side to side and circle, which adds rotational and stabilizer work and the finger-specific exercises.

Can I use it with tennis elbow or golfer's elbow?
Many customers do. They start at the lowest setting for 30 to 40 seconds and build up gradually. The Tornado is fitness equipment, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. Ask your doctor or physical therapist before using it with an injury.

How long are sessions?
Most people do 5 to 15 minutes, at least three times a week. A simple starting routine is 40 seconds of rotation, 20 seconds of rest, for 3 rounds.

Do the friction pads wear out?
Yes. They are the only consumable part. Four spares come in the box. Replace a pad when the resistance feels uneven or you have to over-tighten the ring to get the same feel.

Is it covered by HSA or FSA?
You can pay with HSA or FSA funds through Truemed at checkout, subject to your plan's eligibility.

What's the guarantee?
Every order has a 30-day satisfaction guarantee from the date of purchase. Email info@gripzilla.co first, with photos or a short video if something seems wrong. It's a new kind of tool with a short learning curve, so we'll help with a setup tutorial, a workout routine or a replacement, often with no return needed. If a return is still the right call, the item goes back in its original packaging, with return shipping paid by the buyer.

How long does shipping take?
US orders usually arrive in 2 to 5 business days. International orders usually take 5 to 20 business days, depending on location.
