The Nippon N.S. Pro Putter Shaft is Nippon's steel putter shaft with its patented Luxury Silver plating, a fine matte finish that Nippon says cuts light reflection so you can focus on alignment and stroke. It is 37" long and comes in 120 g, 140 g or 160 g, with a 0.355" or 0.370" tip and a 0.583" butt. Each weight has its own logo color: Green (120 g), Gray (140 g) or Black (160 g).

Who It's For

Good fit if you...

  • Get distracted by glare off a chrome shaft at address
  • Want clear feedback on where you hit the face, even with a soft face insert (Nippon's stated design goal)
  • Want to tune your putter's weight with the shaft: 120 g, 140 g or 160 g
  • Want a steadier stroke under pressure: Nippon says the 140 g and 160 g add stability

Not the right fit if you...

  • Play a putter where the shaft fits over the outside of the hosel
  • Want a softer, more dampened feel: look at a graphite shaft like the KBS GPS Graphite
  • Play a long, belly or armlock putter: Nippon sizes the 37" shaft for short to medium putter lengths
  • Aren't sure which tip size your putter takes: check the hosel bore (0.355" or 0.370") before ordering

How It Feels

Steel you can feel. Nippon says softer face inserts make it harder to feel where you struck the ball, so it built the N.S. Pro Putter as a steel shaft that doesn't dampen vibration more than needed. That gives you feedback on impact location, with or without an insert, to help you control your strike.

Pick your weight. Nippon offers 140 g and 160 g for stability when you're putting under pressure, and added a lighter 120 g that suits heavier putter heads. Nippon also took the model name and weight off the graphics, leaving just a different logo color per weight, so there is less to look at while you putt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which weight should I choose?

Nippon pitches the 140 g and 160 g for stability when you're putting under pressure, and the 120 g for heavier putter heads. A heavier shaft changes the putter's swing weight, so you may need to adjust head weights to match.

What is Luxury Silver plating?

Nippon's patented matte plating on the N.S. Pro Putter. Nippon says its fine matte finish suppresses light reflection to help alignment and stroke focus, and that the plating process is more environmentally friendly.

Which tip size do I need?

Match your putter's hosel bore: 0.355" (9.0 mm) or 0.370" (9.4 mm). Every weight comes in both.

How long is it?

37" uncut. Nippon says that length covers short to medium putter lengths.

How do I tell the weights apart?

By the logo color: Green is 120 g, Gray is 140 g and Black is 160 g. Nippon left the model name and weight off the shaft graphics.
