🌳 A Hydrangea with a Little Height

Developed by Dutch plantsman Pieter Zwijnenburg Jr., Limelight became a garden favorite for its unusual green flowers, exceptional cold hardiness and dependable summer blooms.

The tree form takes that classic hydrangea and trains it into a single-trunk specimen, lifting the flowering canopy above surrounding plants. The result is especially beautiful in formal gardens, near entrances or rising above a bed of roses.

💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It

We love anything that brings another layer of romance to the garden.

Limelight Tree Hydrangea creates height without the visual heaviness of a traditional shade tree. Its enormous flowers are gorgeous above roses and peonies, and those late-season antique-pink blooms make exceptional cut flowers.

We especially love planting a pair to frame a garden entrance or using one as the centerpiece of a romantic mixed border.

🌿 Planting & Care

Plant your bare root hydrangea tree in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade, providing consistent moisture while establishing. Stake the young trunk if needed, and keep mulch away from direct contact with the bark.

Limelight blooms on new wood, so prune the canopy in late winter or early spring to maintain a balanced, rounded shape. Remove shoots that emerge from the trunk or base to preserve its tree form, but never cut back the main trunk.
