About Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay is a Fair Trade certified cooperative supporting rural women artisans across Uruguay. Founded to provide jobs for women in their rural hometowns, allowing them to provide for their families while staying in their home villages and keeping their traditional skills alive. Each Manos skein has a tag with the name of the artisan who made it and the cooperative location. They hand-dye their yarns in cooperatives located in small towns across Uruguay's countryside, producing a rich colour palette with the subtle irregularities that each artisan's hand gives to it.
