This alpaca wool knit kit uses alpaca yarn from British and Irish farms. It is a straightforward hat with no ribbing, and only a simple decrease at the end, by which time you’ll have mastered the two main knitting stitches: knit and purl. New to knitting? Tension / Gauge: 21 sts × 27 rows = 10cm (4”) over stocking stitch on 4.5mm needles (UK 7 / US 7)

100g (225m / 245 yards / 3.5oz) Gorgeous DK yarn – 75% alpaca / 25% sheep wool
Faux fur pompom (Bronze/Gold, Silver, Dark Brown, Black, Cream, White, or no pompom – select at checkout)
4.5mm needles

Despite its simplicity, this is a really versatile hat: you can roll it up for a tight beanie-style fit to the crown, or roll it out for a long 2020s look! If you want it even longer, there is plenty of yarn left to keep going. It’s very lightweight and very flexible, so perfect for travelling.

As with all Gorgeous Alpaca DK kits, it’s warm and cosy but lightweight and breathes well. The alpaca yarn has a small amount of 100% natural sheep’s wool blended in, which makes it easy to knit with and still retains that wonderful alpaca softness.
