The 1700 is the compact member of the Osburn insert family — the same thinking as its larger sibling the Osburn 2000, scaled to fit the shallower, narrower hearths that bigger units simply will not go into. It heats up to 1,800 sq ft and carries a full load for around 7 hours.
High-density refractory bricks and a C-Cast baffle backed by a stainless steel heat shield are what let a firebox this size run hot and stay clean.
An insert sits inside your existing fireplace, so measure the masonry opening before ordering — the minimum is listed in the specifications below. A stainless liner is required and is not included; check your flue height as well.
Limited lifetime warranty (see owner's manual). Don't forget to complete your warranty registration.
