The dbx 286s is a professional microphone and instrument preamplifier with wide-ranging gain control for a variety of sources.

Its front-end processing includes switchable +48V phantom power and an 80Hz high-pass filter to reduce unwanted low-frequency noise. The patented OverEasy compressor helps smooth uneven input levels, while the De-Esser reduces problematic high frequencies. An enhancer allows fine adjustment of high-frequency detail, and the expander/gate can be used to subtly reduce noise from audio sources.
