3' x 5' polyester El Salvador Flag with two grommets, double-stitched top and bottom edges, and a triple-stitched fly edge to reduce fraying.
βοΈ The Design: The national flag of El Salvador was officially adopted on May 17, 1912. Inspired by the flag of the Federal Republic of Central America, it features three horizontal bands of blue, white, and blue, centered with the national coat of arms (virtually identical to Nicaragua with a different seal in the center).
Similar to the other Blue | White | Blue Central American Flags, the two blue stripes represent the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the sky. The central white stripe symbolizes peace and concord. In the center, the detailed coat of arms features an equilateral triangle holding five volcanoes for the original Central American nations, a red Phrygian cap of liberty, a rainbow of peace, and 14 laurel clusters representing El Salvador's 14 departments.
Days of Celebration: The flag is flown across the country during National Flag Day on September 1 and Independence Day on September 15. It is also prominently displayed during civic gatherings and international athletic events.
