3' x 5' polyester Dominica Flag with two grommets, double-stitched top and bottom edges, and a triple-stitched fly edge to reduce fraying.
✍️ The Design: The national flag of Dominica was designed by playwright Alwin Bully and officially adopted on Dominican Independence Day, November 3, 1978.
The design features a green field symbolizing the island's lush vegetation and rainforests. Centered on it is a tri-colored cross of yellow, black, and white. This cross represents "the Holy Trinity, agriculture, rich soil, African heritage, and pure waters". At the center is a red disk (standing for social justice), encircled by 10 green stars representing the island's 10 parishes. Inside the disk sits the purple and green Sisserou parrot, Dominica's national bird and a symbol of flight toward fulfillment.
🇩🇲 FLAG NERD FACT: The parrot is one of the rare instances of the color purple on national flags.
Days of Celebration: The flag is flown across the island during Independence Day on November 3 to mark the nation's self-governance.
