Dimplex Vital Sense 60" Linear Electric Fireplace FAQ
Does the Dimplex Vital Sense SEN60 require professional installation?
The SEN60 is designed for flexible DIY-friendly installation and can be installed as a plug-in unit or hardwired into a standard 2x6 wall cavity. While the plug-in option is straightforward for handy homeowners, hardwired installation should be performed by a licensed electrician to ensure compliance with local electrical codes. Framing dimensions of 58 7/8" W x 18 1/2" H x 9" D should be observed for a flush, built-in look.
Can the Vital Sense 60" fireplace operate without producing heat?
Yes. One of the standout features of the SEN60 is its all-season flame operation, which allows you to enjoy the realistic flame effect, color customization, and crackling sound without activating the heater. This makes it ideal for year-round ambiance, including warm summer months when supplemental heat isn't needed.
How large of a room can the SEN60 heat?
The Dimplex Vital Sense 60" provides supplemental heating for spaces up to 1,000 square feet. With 5,118 BTUs and 1,500 watts of fan-forced heating, it's well-suited as a primary ambiance source and secondary heat source for living rooms, bedrooms, family rooms, and finished basements.
Is the SEN60 compatible with smart home apps or voice control?
The Vital Sense 60" integrates with the Glen Dimplex Connect App, allowing you to control flame colors, brightness, speed, heat output, and sound effects directly from your smartphone or tablet. It also includes a multi-function remote and a hidden on-board touch panel for traditional controls.
What electrical requirements does the Dimplex SEN60 need?
The SEN60 operates on a standard 120V household outlet and draws 12.5 amps at 1,500 watts. For best performance, plug it into a dedicated 15-amp or 20-amp circuit to avoid tripping breakers when the heater is running simultaneously with other appliances. It can also be hardwired for a clean, plug-free installation.
Can the Vital Sense 60" be used outdoors or in covered patios?
No. The Dimplex SEN60 is not outdoor rated and is designed for indoor use only. For outdoor or covered patio installations, Dimplex offers dedicated outdoor-rated electric fireplaces that are weatherproofed against moisture and temperature fluctuations.
What is included in the box with the SEN60?
Your purchase includes the Dimplex Vital Sense 60" Built-in Linear Electric Fireplace, tumbled glass ember media bed, plug kit for plug-in installation, multi-function remote control, and owner's documentation. Optional ember media upgrade kits are available separately through the Dimplex Accessories Program.
What warranty coverage does the Dimplex Vital Sense include?
The SEN60 is backed by a 1-Year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. Keep your purchase order number, model number (SEN60), and serial number on hand for any warranty service requests through Dimplex or an authorized dealer.
