Dimplex Vital Spark 26" Firebox FAQ
Can the Dimplex Vital Spark 26" firebox be plugged into a standard outlet, or does it require hardwiring?
The Vital Spark 26" (SPK26) is designed at 1500W / 120V and can be either direct-wired or converted to a plug-in configuration using a plug kit. This flexibility makes it suitable for both new construction with hardwired circuits and retrofit installations where access to a standard outlet is preferred. A dedicated 15-amp circuit is recommended for best performance.
How large of a room will the SPK26 actually heat?
The fan-forced heater is rated to provide supplemental warmth for spaces up to 1,000 sq. ft., delivering approximately 5,118 BTUs. As with any electric fireplace, it works best as a zone-heating supplement to your primary heating system, particularly in well-insulated rooms.
Can I use the flame effect without turning on the heater?
Yes. The Vital Spark is designed for year-round use — the lifelike LED flame effects, ember bed, and log lighting can run independently of the heater. This lets you enjoy the ambiance during spring and summer without warming the room.
What installation options are available for the Vital Spark 26"?
The SPK26 is highly versatile and can be installed in three primary ways: as a replacement insert in an existing masonry or factory-built fireplace, recessed into a custom-built cabinet or mantel surround, or fully recessed directly into a framed wall. Framing dimensions are 24" W x 17 3/8" H x 9" D.
Does it work with smart home apps or voice control?
Yes. The Vital Spark series is compatible with the Glen Dimplex Connect app, which lets you adjust flame settings, color, brightness, heat, and timers from your smartphone. The unit also ships with a multi-function remote and includes a discreet built-in control panel for manual operation.
Is the Dimplex Vital Spark approved for commercial use?
The Vital Spark series is safety certified for residential indoor installation. For commercial applications such as hotels, restaurants, or short-term rentals, we recommend confirming local code requirements and reviewing the manufacturer specifications, as commercial installations may require additional documentation or approval.
What's included in the box with the SPK26?
Each Dimplex Vital Spark 26" firebox ships with the unit itself (including the molded log set and ember bed), and a multi-function remote control. An installation manual is included for reference. Plug kits, trim kits, and surrounds are sold separately when needed.
What warranty does Dimplex offer on the Vital Spark series?
The Vital Spark 26" is covered by Dimplex's 2-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. To file a warranty claim, you'll need your PO number, model number (SPK26), and serial number. ElectricFireplacesPlus.com is an authorized Dimplex dealer, so every unit ships with full factory warranty coverage.
