Dimplex Nova 33" Multi-Fire XHD Plug-in Electric Firebox - Acrylic Glass FAQ
Does the Dimplex Nova 33" XHD Firebox require any special wiring or venting?
No special wiring or venting is required. The XHD33G operates on a standard 120V household outlet (12.2 amps) and is completely ventless, producing zero emissions. There is no chimney, gas line, or flue installation needed—simply frame the rough opening, slide the unit in, and plug it in.
What size room can this electric fireplace heat?
The Dimplex Multi-Fire XHD 33" delivers 5,000 BTUs from its fan-forced heater, which is designed to supplement heat in spaces up to 1,000 square feet. Actual performance will vary based on insulation, ceiling height, and ambient temperature, making it ideal as zone-heating for living rooms, bedrooms, family rooms, or dens.
Can I operate the flames without using the heater?
Yes. The flame effect operates completely independently from the heater, so you can enjoy the glowing flames and color-changing media bed year-round without producing any heat. This makes the firebox perfect for spring, summer, and fall ambiance as well as winter warmth.
What is the rough opening size needed to install this firebox?
The framing / rough opening required is 31 5/8" wide x 22 5/8" high x 8" deep. The finished fireplace itself measures 33 1/8"W x 23 1/4"H x 7 1/2"D, with a viewing area of 29 1/2"W x 18 1/2"H. Always confirm dimensions against the installation manual before framing.
Is the glass front safe around children and pets?
Yes. Unlike gas or wood-burning fireplaces, the glass front of the Dimplex XHD33G remains cool to the touch during operation. This makes it a family-friendly option that delivers the look of a real fire without the burn risk associated with traditional fireplaces.
What color options are available for the flame and media bed?
The Multi-Fire XHD technology lets you choose between five preset media bed colors—white, blue, purple, green, and red—or activate the custom mode to cycle through a full range of colors and freeze on the hue you prefer. Flame speed and brightness are also independently adjustable for total ambiance control.
What is included in the box with the XHD33G?
Each order includes the Dimplex 33" Multi-Fire XHD Plug-in Electric Firebox, the Acrylic Ice media bed, a multi-function remote control for adjusting flames, color, heat, and timer settings, an owner's manual, and Dimplex's 2-year limited manufacturer warranty.
