Dimplex Nova 28" Multi-Fire XHD Plug-in Electric Firebox - Logs FAQ
Does the Dimplex Nova 28" Multi-Fire XHD require hard-wiring or a special outlet?
No. The XHD28L is designed for true plug-and-play operation—just plug it into any standard 120V household outlet. No gas line, venting, or electrician-installed circuit is required, which makes installation faster and significantly less expensive than gas or wood-burning fireplaces.
How much space can the heater warm, and how many BTUs does it produce?
The fan-forced ceramic heater produces 5,118 BTUs and can comfortably warm a room up to 1,000 square feet. It draws 1,500 watts at 12.5 amps, making it an effective supplemental heat source for living rooms, bedrooms, dens, and similar spaces.
Can I run the flame effect without turning on the heat?
Yes. The flames and LED lighting operate completely independently of the heater, so you can enjoy the ambiance of a fireplace 365 days a year—even on warm summer evenings—without adding any heat to the room.
What are the exact framing (rough opening) dimensions I need to build for installation?
The required framing / rough opening is 26 12/16"W x 23 1/16"H x 8"D. The firebox itself measures 27 3/8"W x 23 1/2"H x 7 1/4"D, with a viewing area of 24 1/2"W x 18 12/16"H. Always confirm dimensions against the official install manual before framing.
What's included with the XHD28L when it ships?
Each shipment includes the Dimplex 28" Multi-Fire XHD Plug-In Electric Firebox, the Realogs™ log set media bed, and the multi-function remote control. The 2-year manufacturer's limited warranty is also included with your purchase.
Do the LED bulbs need to be replaced over time?
No. The Multi-Fire XHD uses long-life, low-energy LED bulbs for both the flames and lighting effects, and they are designed to require zero maintenance over the life of the unit—no bulb changes, no servicing.
Is the Multi-Fire XHD safe to install in a recessed wall or existing masonry fireplace?
Yes. The XHD28L is a built-in insert engineered for installation in framed openings or existing masonry fireboxes. Heat vents are located on the front top, so clearances above the unit must be observed. Always follow the install manual for required clearances to combustibles and proper framing specifications.
What warranty and return coverage comes with this fireplace?
The XHD28L is backed by a 2-year manufacturer's limited warranty from Dimplex, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. Electric Fireplaces Depot also offers a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee return policy, provided the item is returned in original packaging with all original contents in sellable condition.
