Forget about sphagnum moss, peat moss or shingletow. It just so happens that the best bare-root packing and shipping material on earth is crinkly brown paper: Agro-Pak. The ecologically sound alternative made from recycled paper that does more and costs less than anything else you can use.
Agro-Pak keeps delicate roots moist throughout shipment while it cushions and protects plants and trees, because Agro-Pak’s unique design holds 3.1 times its weight in water and can be re-wet over and over again. It can be used as a soil mix or bedding material. It can be planted along with whatever you’re shipping. It’s not subject to seasonal price fluctuation, and has no bacteriological burden.
So forget about sphagnum moss, peat moss, shingletow or whatever. And call FiberCore (216-249-2100) for a sample of Agro-Pak, because Agro-Pak isn’t just the best packing material on earth, it’s the best packing material for the earth…and whatever grows on it.
