To the Scots he was "Good Sir James." To his enemies he became the dreaded "Black Douglas." One of Robert the Bruce's most loyal commanders, Sir James Douglas spent decades fighting for Scottish independence. He was so committed to driving the English from his homeland that when he freed his home castle, he burned it rather than risk its recapture. His loyalty continued even after his king's death. When Robert the Bruce died, Douglas was entrusted with carrying the Bruce's heart on crusade. Douglas fell fighting in Spain at the Battle of Teba in 1330, with Bruce's heart carried into battle beside him.

Using our Knight's Surcoat as a base, the Sir James Douglas Surcoat bears the early arms of Douglas, three five-pointed stars upon a field of blue set against natural linen, or in heraldic terms, "Argent, on a chief Azure three mullets Argent." Ideal for medieval inspired cosplay, LARP, or stage and film productions.

Made from 100% linen.
