Clarendon is a wool and silk cloth carrying a small self-coloured dot, which does nothing whatever from across a room and a good deal at conversational range. One button, a shawl lapel faced in black silk, slanted flap pockets, a welt breast pocket, buttoned cuffs and a double vent. Made in Portugal.

The shawl is the gentler of the two lapels proper to a dinner jacket, and the more accommodating upon most shoulders.
