Attractive summer blooms draw in honey bees

The Texas Kidneywood shrub is a delightful addition to any garden, known for its lush, green foliage and stunning white bloom spikes that appear at the end of its branches during summer. These fragrant flowers not only beautify your landscape but also serve a purposeful role by attracting honey bees, supporting local pollinators. Blooming in abundance, the shrub will create a lovely atmosphere and add a touch of elegance to your outdoor space.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this shrub is easy to grow, making it an ideal choice for gardeners of all skill levels. It thrives in various soil types and can withstand drought, which is a wonderful asset for those in warmer climates. The Texas Kidneywood's resilience and low-maintenance nature mean you can enjoy its beauty without constant care, allowing more time to sit back and relax in your blooming sanctuary.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location that receives full sun, as this shrub thrives in bright, sunny spots. Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper than the root ball itself. Place the plant in the hole, fill in with soil, and water thoroughly to help it settle in.

2. Watering: Water well after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first growing season. Once established, Texas Kidneywood is drought-tolerant, but may loose leaves during periods of low rainfall.  Blooming is triggered by rainfall or consistent watering.

3. Pruning: Light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged branches. You can also trim spent blooms to encourage new growth.

4. Fertilizing: An all-purpose, slow-release fertilizer can be applied in early spring to promote healthy growth. Follow package instructions for the right amount, but generally, this shrub requires minimal fertilizing.
