Fragrant white blooms with exceptional reblooming

Iris ‘Immortality’ produces ruffled, soft white flowers accented by pale lemon-yellow beards and a strong, sweet fragrance. It begins blooming from late spring into early summer and is widely reported to be one of the most consistent reblooming tall bearded irises across the country.

Tall bearded irises bridge the gap between earlier dwarf irises and later Japanese and Siberian types. This dependable variety adds bright contrast, fragrance, and upright structure to borders, cottage gardens, and mixed perennial beds.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with at least 6 hours of direct sun and well-drained soil. Set the rhizome horizontally with its top at or slightly above the soil surface, spreading the roots below. Space plants 12–18 inches apart and avoid heavy mulch over the rhizomes.

2. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting, then keep the soil lightly moist while roots establish. Once established, water during extended dry periods, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid soggy conditions and overhead watering when possible.

3. Pruning: Remove spent flowers and cut finished bloom stalks near the base. Leave healthy foliage in place through the growing season, then trim it back to about 6 inches after frost or once it yellows naturally. Remove damaged or diseased leaves promptly.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a low-nitrogen fertilizer in early spring and again after the first flowering period to support reblooming. Keep fertilizer away from direct contact with the rhizome, and avoid high-nitrogen products that encourage foliage at the expense of flowers.
