What, exactly, is the purpose of a rubber duck?

Sometimes, something's purpose is just to bring us joy and those are the most important things of all.

The pictures are examples, and ducks may vary as to what color they are on, or how else the house is depicted besides the scarf (for example, sometimes the duck may also be holding a wand, or magical item).

These are not intended for very young children that are still prone to eating/ sucking on their toys. They're decorational, fun, squeaky ducks.
