Please note, this item is considered a second choice by our factory in France. All seconds are handmade using our usual crafting methods, but with minor glazing or ceramic blemishes, neither of which minimize the quality of performance. Seconds are Final Sale.

In an effort to minimize our impact on the environment, unglazed items are recycled and the materials reused. For the same reason, we've decided to make our seconds available for purchase at a significant discount.

If you're visiting the Burgundy region of France, you can shop our ceramic seconds in our physical Emile Henry Factory Shop, located in Marcigny. In the U.S., seconds are available online only.

A kitchen workhorse, the incredibly versatile Modern Classics Rectangular Baker is shaped from mineral rich Burgundian clay, which absorbs, distributes and retains heat evenly so contents cook and brown to perfection. Emile Henry ceramic is non-toxic, extremely durable, and a versatile choice for one-dish baking, serving and storing.
