Compak i3 Pro: a straightforward hopper-fed espresso station
The Compak i3 Pro pairs 58mm flat burrs with a 700g hopper for a coffee station that keeps one espresso ready to dial in and serve. Stepless adjustment gives you control over extraction, and programmable single and double timers make the serving routine easier to repeat.
It is a useful starting point for a smaller espresso service, an office with a staffed espresso setup, or a dedicated second coffee alongside a larger grinder. The 515mm height gives the full-size i3 more hopper capacity than the Mini without increasing its published width or depth.
Set the grind first, then the timer
Use the Micrometric Parallel adjustment to establish the extraction you want. Once the grind is close, weigh a delivered dose and adjust the timer to suit your basket. Treat the two adjustments separately: a fixed time cannot guarantee a fixed weight as beans and grind settings change.
Simple controls for everyday service
The i3 uses an LCD and capacitive keypad, with programmable single and double doses plus continuous grinding. Its portafilter support keeps the basket under the outlet. The larger E-series adds a different touchscreen interface and, on the LLS models, convenient access to the grinding chamber.

Frequently asked questions
Is the i3 Pro single dosing or on demand?
It is a hopper-fed, timed on-demand espresso grinder. Continuous mode does not turn it into a purpose-built single-dose grinder. The PK100 Single Dose is the relevant Compak alternative for weighing beans before each grind.
Does it have three programmable doses?
The i3 family manual describes programmable single and double doses, along with continuous grinding. Do not confuse its controls with the Fresh-mode options on the Bolt.
How much counter space does it need?
The body occupies a published 190 × 315mm footprint and stands 515mm tall with the standard hopper. Leave additional access for filling, adjustment and cleaning.
Why has my dose weight changed without changing the timer?
Coffee density, grind setting and the amount of coffee in the hopper affect delivery. Recheck the dose on a scale, then tune the timer to match your recipe.
Can I alternate regular coffee and decaf in one hopper?
You can change coffee, but the hopper and grinding path need to be cleared and purged appropriately. A separate decaf grinder avoids repeating that process during service.
Should I buy the i3 or the E6?
The i3 offers a 58mm platform with straightforward keypad controls. The E6 OD LLS adds 64mm burrs, a 2.8-inch touchscreen and Lock & Load burr access. Compare peak workload, staff workflow and cleaning priorities as well as price.
