How does it work?

Fred Pro works with the MyTag app and uses both the Apple and Android networks of nearby phones at the same time. That dual-network approach means more phones can pick up your dog's location, so updates are more accurate and more frequent than a single-network tracker.

Every location is saved for three days, so you can retrace exactly where they've been. Bluetooth range is around 10 to 15 metres and is reduced by walls, metal and other obstructions.

When you're in range, tap the sound icon to make the tag beep. If the battery is low, the speaker may stop working while location tracking carries on. Like any network tracker, it relies on other phones passing nearby, so it works best where there are people around.

How to use

1. Scan the QR code in the printed manual to download the MyTag app from the App Store or Google Play.

2. Pull the insulation tab to wake Fred Pro.

3. Follow the in-app steps to pair your tag. No account sign-up needed.

4. Clip Fred Pro onto your dog's collar with a FRED collar accessory.

5. Open the app to see the current location, the last three days of history, beep the tag, or share access with family.

6. Replace the CR2032 coin cell when the battery runs low.

FAQs

Is Fred Pro a GPS tracker?
No. Fred Pro is a Bluetooth tracker. It doesn't have a GPS chip or SIM card. Instead, nearby Apple and Android phones detect it and report its location to the MyTag app. That's why there's no monthly fee. If you need live GPS tracking in remote areas, look at our Smart Pet Tracker.

Do I need a subscription?
No. Fred Pro has no subscription, no SIM and no account fees. Location history for the last 3 days is free.

Can I use Fred Pro as a cat tracker?
Yes. Fred Pro is small and light enough for most cat collars, and it works the same way as on a dog.

How long does the battery last?
Around 6–8 months, depending on use. It takes a standard CR2032 coin cell, which you can replace yourself.

Is Fred Pro waterproof?
It's splash resistant, so rain and puddles are fine. For swimming dogs, add a waterproof silicone case.
