The SHOEI GT-Air 3 Nile is a premium sport-touring full-face helmet for riders who want stable highway performance, adaptable visibility, and all-day comfort. Its Nile TC-9 graphic pairs matte black and gold with the GT-Air 3's AIM shell, integrated QSV-2 sun visor, quiet-focused aerodynamic design, and SHOEI Comlink compatibility for the separately sold SENA SRL3 communication system.

SHOEI engineering and what has improved

SHOEI develops the GT-Air 3 with its large in-house wind tunnel and detailed airflow testing. Compared with the GT-Air 2 at a simulated 100 km/h, SHOEI reports 11% less lift and 6.5% less drag. A more fluid shell shape, integrated spoiler edges, and updated side components support stability and aerodynamic performance while the design is tuned for touring comfort and reduced noise.

  • More efficient ventilation: The redesigned upper intake brings in 20% more air, while the relocated top outlet moves 80% more air out than the previous model, based on SHOEI's reference measurements.
  • More sun coverage: The QSV-2 inner sun visor provides 5 mm more coverage than the GT-Air 2 visor.
  • Refined shield and chin curtain: The CNS-1C shield uses a central lock and improved seal. A slightly open position helps increase airflow, and the chin curtain is larger than the previous model.
  • Smaller micro-ratchet system: The stainless steel micro-ratchet chin strap is more compact and designed to be easier to fasten or release while wearing riding gloves.

Shell and safety

The AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) shell uses layered fiberglass and organic fibers with resin to balance strength, flexibility, and weight. An EPS impact-absorbing liner provides the helmet's internal energy-management layer. The GT-Air 3 is DOT certified for U.S. road use.

SHOEI lists the helmet weight as 3.91 lb. Weight can vary with size and fit configuration.

Shield, sun visor, and ventilation

  • CNS-1C face shield: Designed for a broad, clear field of view, more than 99% UV reduction, and a secure central locking mechanism.
  • Pinlock EVO lens: A Pinlock EVO anti-fog lens is included and fits the CNS-1C shield. GT-Air II CNS-1 shields are not compatible with the GT-Air 3.
  • QSV-2 sun visor: Integrated internal sun visor adjusts quickly for bright conditions and can be raised for darker roads or tunnels.
  • Defogger ventilation system: Upper and lower intakes and the top outlet manage airflow through the helmet. A detachable lower intake filter helps keep insects and debris out.
  • Breath Guard: Included to direct breath away from the shield and help reduce fogging.

Comfort and communication

The 3D Full Support Inner IV combines moisture-wicking, quick-drying fabric around sweat-prone areas with soft raised fabric at the helmet opening. The interior components and ear pads are removable for cleaning and fit adjustment. E.Q.R.S. emergency quick-release tabs on the cheek pads can help trained responders remove the helmet carefully in an emergency.

SHOEI Comlink provides a discreet base for the SENA SRL3 communication system, designed specifically for the GT-Air 3. The SRL3 unit is sold separately and is not included with the helmet.

Included with the helmet

  • Pinlock EVO anti-fog lens

  • Chin Curtain

Size chart

SHOEI size Head circumference Inches
XS 53-54 cm 20 7/8-21 1/4
S 55-56 cm 21 5/8-22
M 57-58 cm 22 1/2-22 7/8
L 59-60 cm 23 1/4-23 5/8

How to measure: Use a soft, flexible tape horizontally around your head, about 2.5 cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows at the widest point around your forehead. Compare the measurement with the chart. SHOEI advises trying the smaller of two sizes if your measurement falls between sizes, then confirming the fit in person with an authorized dealer. The helmet should feel evenly snug without painful pressure.

Nile TC-9 color

Nile TC-9 is the matte black and gold graphic finish. Lighting and screen settings can affect how the gold and black tones appear.
