The Garmin Astro 430 is an older but capable dog tracking handheld that holds up well in the field. The 2.6-inch color TFT display is larger and more vivid than the monochrome screens on newer budget handhelds, and the high-visibility orange case is easy to spot if you set it down in brush.
Tracks up to 20 dogs from up to 9 miles away with GPS and GLONASS for better signal in heavy cover and canyons, with location updates as frequent as every 2.5 seconds. Preloaded TOPO U.S. 100K mapping, a tilt-compensated 3-axis compass, and a barometric altimeter give you full navigation capability. Hunt Metrics data tracks each dog's distance traveled and time in the field so you can analyze patterns over time. Rescue Mode automatically slows the update rate to extend battery life when levels drop low.
Runs on 2 AA batteries or an optional NiMH rechargeable pack, up to 20 hours. Compatible with T5, T5 Mini, T5X, TT15, TT15 Mini, and DC50 collars sold separately. This is a used unit and comes with a 90-day warranty. Inspected and tested before it ships from Dog and Hunt Supply in Quitman, AR.
