A tree has quite a story to tell, if you know where to look. In Woodcut, artist Bryan Nash Gill reveals the extraordinary beauty hidden within the rings of fallen trees, transforming cross sections of ash, maple, oak and willow into monumental relief prints.
Working with wood gathered near his Connecticut studio, Gill captured the intricate patterns of each tree's life, year by year, ring by ring. The result is a striking collection of natural history turned into art, and a rather wonderful reminder that nature is often the finest printmaker of all.
