Dating to circa 1846, this tall antique Chinese cabinet is an impressive example of 19th-century Chinoiserie-style furniture. Its richly aged red lacquer finish is decorated with hand-painted scenes of traditional Chinese architecture, landscapes, figures, floral motifs, and geometric borders. Years of natural wear have softened the artwork and created a beautifully layered patina.

The cabinet is constructed in two separate parts, making it easier to move and install despite its substantial 96.1-inch height. The lower section features two large paneled doors with decorative brass hardware, while the upper section provides an additional two-door storage compartment. Its narrow footprint offers generous vertical storage without requiring excessive floor space.

With its faded hand-painted decoration, warm red tones, timeworn surfaces, and monumental scale, this cabinet makes a striking focal point in a living room, dining room, bedroom, library, or large entryway. It may be used as a linen cupboard, bar cabinet, pantry cabinet, clothing armoire, or decorative storage piece. It works especially well in Chinoiserie, Asian-inspired, traditional, eclectic, maximalist, and collected interiors.
