Handmade in northern China around 1826, this antique wooden daybed bench has been carefully refinished in a rich black finish. Its long, clean-lined seat is framed by a low back and raised side panels, while the gracefully curved legs and carved apron add a traditional Chinese character.

Originally made as a daybed or platform bench, this versatile piece can now be used as an entryway bench, statement seating, a low display platform, or an accent piece in a living room, bedroom, or large hallway. The simple black finish gives the approximately 200-year-old form a more modern presence while allowing its elegant proportions and handcrafted construction to remain the focus.
