Ranunculus Romance™ ‘Hydra’ is one of those varieties that changes as you watch it. The flowers open in a soft, creamy yellow, and as they develop, the outer petals begin to pick up a gentle blush pink. In warmer light, this can deepen into a soft apricot or salmon tone. It’s not a fixed colour, but a gradual shift, which gives the plant a more natural and interesting look over time.

The blooms are large and full, forming tight, layered rosettes typical of high-quality ranunculus, but with more substance and consistency. As part of the Romance series, ‘Hydra’ has been selected for strong stems and reliable performance, making it equally suitable for garden planting and cutting.

Why gardeners choose it

Colour changes as the flower matures, from creamy yellow to blush and soft apricot
Subtle tones that work well with whites, pastels and warmer shades
Strong stems that stand well in the garden and hold up when cut
Excellent vase life, ideal for arrangements
Each corm produces multiple stems for a fuller display

About the Romance series
Propagated as selected clones, not grown from seed
Bred for larger flowers and more uniform plants
Stronger stems and improved overall performance

Ranunculus ‘Hydra’ is a good choice if you prefer softer, changing colours rather than a single flat shade. It adds movement and variation to planting schemes and brings a more natural feel to both the garden and the vase.
