Dahlia ‘Cloud Nine’ is a striking dinnerplate-type dahlia known for its exceptionally large, airy blooms and soft, cloud-like colouring. The fully double flowers can reach around 20 cm or more across, yet they maintain a light, elegant presence rather than feeling heavy or overly dense. The blooms open in a clean, luminous white, often developing a gentle blush or shell-pink glow toward the centre as they mature. This subtle shift in tone means no two flowers look exactly the same, with each bloom ranging from pure white to softly warmed pastel shades. Broad, gently curved petals are arranged in a loose, open form that enhances the flower’s airy character.

Plants grow to approximately 100–120 cm tall with strong, upright stems capable of supporting the large blooms. Early staking is recommended to maintain structure and keep stems clean and straight throughout the season. Flowering begins in midsummer and continues right up to the first frost when regularly cut or deadheaded. In the garden, ‘Cloud Nine’ works beautifully as a soft focal point. Its pale colouring blends effortlessly into romantic planting schemes and pairs well with blush pinks, creams, apricots, and deeper contrasting tones. Despite its size, it never overwhelms surrounding plants, instead adding brightness and balance.

As a cut flower, it is exceptionally versatile. The large, pale blooms create instant volume in arrangements and combine easily with almost any colour palette. A few stems alone can anchor a bouquet thanks to their scale and presence. For best results, plant tubers in spring after the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, well-drained position with space to develop. Regular cutting encourages continuous flowering and strong seasonal performance.
