The Cavrelle Wall Sconce started from the bracket lanterns beside the doors of old houses in Tuscan hill towns, a small many-sided lantern hanging from a curved metal arm fixed to the stone wall. At night each one throws a pool of light down onto the doorstep and leaves the wall above in shadow. We kept the faceted lantern and the curved arm, and cut the lantern itself from the same pale, pitted travertine as the walls it used to hang on.
The shade is cut from natural travertine. Its banding, color and open pores differ on every piece, so no two sconces look exactly the same, and a pair will not match exactly.
