The Wrenford Pendant Lamp started from the wooden spinning tops sold in old village toy shops, each one turned from a few stacked pieces: a dark round knob, a flat, pale disc and a wide cone below, sometimes dressed in a scrap of printed cotton. We kept those stacked parts and the little cloth skirt, printed with small tulips, and hung the whole top upside down from a long cord. Lit, the fabric glows warm around the bulb and the tulips show through, one panel after another.
