The Pearlwick Pendant Lamp started from the shell-mosaic lamps that hung over kitchen tables in old beach houses, domes pieced together from small squares of shell, each one a slightly different shade. We kept the dome and the square-by-square pattern, and hung it from a turned wooden neck shaped like a drop, the kind of detail once found on a ship's lantern. Nothing on the shade is printed or painted. Lit, every square glows on its own, like a wall of small windows at dusk.
