Inspiration

The Malloway Table Lamp started from striped seaside things: beach cabanas, old candy jars and the red-and-white ceramic jugs sold in harbor-town shops. We put those stripes on a small bottle-shaped base, running straight down from shoulder to foot, and added two little loop handles near the top, the way an old two-handled vase is made to be carried. On top sits a white shade with a soft, nubby texture, which keeps the bold stripes from feeling loud. Lit, the shade glows warm while the red and white stay crisp below.
