The Dovren Wall Sconce began with the shell-inlaid trays and boxes kept on dressers in seaside houses, where small flat pieces of shell are laid edge to edge until the surface looks like cracked ice. We wanted that same patchwork on something round, so the pieces wrap two globes instead of a flat lid. One globe sits above the arm and one below, like a pair of pebbles picked up together on a walk along the shore. When the light is on, the seams between the pieces show as fine lines of light.
