Alessi Nut Splitter Walnut Opener
Mirror-polished 18/10 stainless steel walnut opener inspired by traditional pocket punches and maple seeds
The Alessi Nut Splitter Walnut Opener gives you a compact way to crack walnuts without reaching for a bulky nutcracker. Designed by Jim Hannon-Tan with LPWK, its precision-cast stainless steel form slips into the shell seam and uses a simple twisting motion to open the nut.
Why Order from Design & Grace
Authorized Alessi retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Alessi retailer, so you receive a genuine Nut Splitter with Alessi's 24-month manufacturer warranty against product defects.
Ships from Texas: Your Alessi order is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
Small enough to keep close: Nut Splitter takes up almost no drawer space and gives you a dedicated tool for walnuts without the size of a conventional lever-style nutcracker.
A Traditional Gesture in a Modern Form
The design takes inspiration from an old method used by farmers and foresters who opened nuts with both hands and a small pocket-sized punch. Here, Alessi translates that action into a smooth stainless steel object that is easy to hold and simple to use.
The shape also references the propeller-like form of maple seeds, giving the tool a light, curved profile despite its solid metal construction.
Signature Features
Walnut-opening function: Designed to enter the natural seam of a walnut shell and open it with a controlled twisting motion.
18/10 stainless steel: Gives the tool durable construction with a bright mirror-polished finish.
Compact size: At just 1.58 inches long, Nut Splitter is easy to store in a drawer, utensil tray, or small serving-accessory box.
Precision-cast form: The solid metal construction gives the small tool enough substance for repeated use.
Jim Hannon-Tan and LPWK design: The object combines a traditional cracking method with a maple-seed-inspired silhouette.
Objets-Bijoux collection: Nut Splitter belongs to Alessi's family of small functional objects treated with unusual attention to form and metalworking.
From Our Founder
"Nut Splitter is a very Alessi kind of tool because it reduces the job to almost nothing. It is small, beautifully made, and once you understand the twisting action, it does exactly what you need without a large mechanism."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
