Variegated Shell Ginger

Product Description: The Variegated Shell Ginger (Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata') is a vibrant and striking tropical plant that features bold, yellow-striped leaves with lush green margins. Named for its cascading clusters of shell-like, pinkish-white flowers, this ginger variety is an eye-catching addition to any garden, patio, or indoor space. Its large, arching foliage and colorful patterns bring a tropical flair, making it a favorite among landscape designers and plant lovers alike. When mature, it can also produce beautiful, fragrant blooms that resemble strings of delicate pearls, adding another layer of charm to this versatile plant.

Plant Care:

• Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning. If grown outdoors, it prefers partial shade.
• Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry, and avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
• Humidity: Prefers a humid environment. While it can adapt to average indoor humidity, misting or placing it near a humidifier will keep it thriving.
• Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Protect from frost or cold drafts, as this plant is sensitive to temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
• Soil: Use well-draining, fertile soil. A mix designed for tropical plants or a combination of potting soil, peat, and perlite works well.
• Fertilization: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer to promote healthy growth. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.

Pet Friendliness: The Variegated Shell Ginger is generally considered non-toxic to pets. However, as with any plant, it’s always best to prevent pets from chewing on the leaves to avoid any digestive upset or minor irritation.

This showy plant is perfect for adding a tropical touch to your space while being relatively easy to care for with the right environment.
