The part of the meal that ends up on the floor, caught.
Water gets pushed over the rim. Kibble gets carried out and dropped. On a wood floor that turns into a mark, and on stone it turns into a puddle you find with a sock.
The mat sits under the bowls and takes all of it. One wipe with a damp cloth and it is done, which is the only reason a mat gets used rather than left in a drawer.
It is cut as a bone, with a rounded lobe at each corner and a narrow waist in the middle, so two bowls sit in the wide ends and the shape still reads as deliberate rather than as a rectangle of plastic. The surface is smooth matte vegan leather in a warm tan, with a fine stitch line following the whole edge in matching thread and the Furr & Co. wordmark pressed into one corner.
It is a firm flat panel, not a soft rug. It lies where you put it and keeps its shape.
On the surfaceIt is wipe-clean, not absorbent. Spills sit on top and get wiped away rather than soaking in, so the mat stays dry underneath — but a large spill will need wiping rather than waiting.

Care
A damp cloth. Wipe it and dry it, and it is ready for the next meal.
No machine wash, no abrasive cleaners. Both damage the surface finish.
Flat. It is a rigid panel, so don't fold it — a hard crease in the surface tends to stay.
From the founder
Not an exciting object. It is the difference between a clean floor and a wet one, twice a day, every day.
