Two bowls cut from natural travertine, seated in a single stone base plate. Designed in Los Angeles. $329 for the set.
Travertine is a stone you already know. It's on hotel floors and bathroom counters, and it's been quarried and cut the same way for two thousand years. We use it here for the reason anyone uses it. It's beautiful, and it's heavy.
Weight. A stainless bowl travels across a kitchen floor. This one doesn't move. A dog can push into it and it stays where you put it.
And it doesn't look like pet equipment. That's the part most people are actually solving for. It sits on a kitchen floor the way a stone tray sits on a counter.
Each bowl is 6″ across and 2″ deep. The base plate is 13″ × 6.5″. Wide and shallow, so a cat's whiskers stay clear of the sides.
It works for cats and dogs, big breeds included. It's heavy enough that a large dog won't push it around. One bowl for water, one for food — or both for water in a two-cat house.
The stone carries a food-safe sealed finish. Sealing is what closes the surface of natural travertine, and it's why this is a bowl and not a decorative object.
Warm water, mild soap, by hand. That's the whole routine.
Travertine pits and veins as it forms. We don't fill it or hide it. Yours won't match the photographs exactly, and it won't match anyone else's.
